“Education for all” is an issue that we really want to get involved with because it allows us to interact with the victims of the crisis. Local schools in China usually provide low-quality or inaccurate forms of foreign language education - where we have the ability to help, since we are almost all bilingual. This allows us to help those who have less than us by sharing our knowledge. It would also be beneficial to them as well as ourselves for all of our futures. We can also host fundraisers to provide them with better English textbooks and learning utensils.
We would like to focus on local Shanghai schools where we can travel to and teach them the fundamentals of English. We will also raise money to buy them English-Chinese dictionaries, English games like Scrabble and some English books for them to read. We’d like to raise money by conducting bake sales, donation events, school events and methods like these.
Case Study
What is the organization? The organization is Junior Achievement, founded in 1919 by American industrialists and public figures. This organization has grown into an international network that spans more than 100 countries worldwide. Junior Achievement is devoted to teaching young people about market economics and business. What exactly are they doing to try and combat or change your issue? JA works in elementary, junior, high schools as well as colleges in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, offering students optional classes that explore and explain the workings of the market economy. They are education people around the world on how to run their own student companies, from selling stock to raise capital, electing officers and paying dividends, to keeping the company running smoothly. What are some of the things you like about their program? Some things I like about their program is that they have their courses managed very well by thinking about timeframe and everything like classes that our one-hour each that run for five weeks so that high school students could fit this extra course in according to their schedule without getting overloaded. What are some questions you have about it? I want to know this group’s purpose for starting this sort of education for young people and also the living conditions of the people taking the course. I want to know if the people are those who have really little money or those who are fortunate enough to have all things they can afford like going to school. How could you become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it? We could think about getting connection with this group so that we can also start some sort of class for juniors but think of a way to spread it to those who are less fortunate to give them a chance to rise up in society and live normally without cheap labor and lack of money. The reason we should be connected is so that way, we have connection with more schools.

Now that you have your opening paragraph posted on the wiki, you need to post some more information on your case study. Post the questions as well as the answers on your wiki. Make sure to add youtubes, photos and video to your wiki as well. 1. What is the specific topic your group decided to focus on? The topic our group decided to focus on is Poverty- education, specifically on the local schools in Shanghai. We want to host fundraisers and donation events to raise money to buy good quality supplies for foreign education. We also want to attend these local Shanghai schools - at least three of them, and interact with the students as well as teach them a bit about the english language.
2. Which organization did you choose to focus on and why? The Living Values program. We chose this organization because of the way it teaches the students values instead of merely academics and the way it strives to make the students become a better person. We think that this is important, and that it's possibly an even more valuable source of education. When we interact with the students, we also want to bring with us the lesson of moral values, and hopefully the students will take that with them as they grow older with a better foreign language education.
3. What exactly are they doing to try and combat or change your issue? The purpose of Living Values Educational Program is to provide guiding principles and tools for the development of the whole person, recognizing that the individual is comprised of physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. The program hosts meetings often and specially train those who actively participate with schools.
4. What are some of the things you like about their program? We like how the program teaches students knowledge beyond academics and materialism and how it strives to teach children how to become a worthy human being. Schools that only teach academics may mislead students to think that money is everything instead of teaching them proper values. We think that values is a very important key to a successful life, especially in the social field and this is something that we want to teach students in the Shanghai local schools.
5. How do you plan to become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it? When we teach English to local schools, we’d also like to help them understand how to use their newfound knowledge wisely instead of using the English language as a weapon to harm those around them. We also want to emphasize the importance of becoming a good person who has values that they will stick to throughout their lifetime. This way, they'll have both the fundamentals of the English language and the understanding of how the things that are truly important are beyond the lines of academic excellence.
